Prayer Shawl Ministry
Leader: Vida Johnson

"May God's grace be upon this shawl...warming, comforting, enforlding and embracing.  May this mantle be a safe haven...a scared place of security and well-being...sustaining and embraing in good times as well as difficult ones.  May the one who receives this shawl be cradled in hope, kept in joy, graced with peace, and wrapped in love.  Blessed be the maker and the receiver.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

The prayer shawls are blessed during worship before they distributed with this beautiful prayer.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry was started at Grace UMC in 2004. Since that time we have given over 40 shawls to persons who were ill, bereaved or just in need of comfort. Shawls have been knitted and crocheted by several members of the congregation. Anyone who would like to participate in this ministry may contact Vida Johnson for knitting or crocheting instructions. If the price of yarn seems prohibitive, there are some funds available for the purchase of yarn.  If you know of someone who should receive a prayer shawl, please contact the church office.
